A Providence Superior Court jury awarded a Cranston woman, who was severely injured after being struck by a firework almost $400.0000.  The incident happened on July 3, 2005 at a Johnston, RI party.

The woman was hit on her right side and face by a commercial grade firework and suffered hearing loss, severe burns and scarring. While it was unclear who had set off the firework, the jury concluded it was lit from the property of defendants, the hosts of the party.

Mark W. Dana, partner in the Providence law firm D’Amico-Burchfield and trial counsel stated that “We are pleased with the jury verdict and its rejection of the unbelievable assertions that the fireworks came from some other mysterious source, or even perhaps from a trespasser who snuck onto the hosts property and set off the fireworks.”

The jury verdict came after a 6 day trail and 4 hours of deliberation. The verdict was for $260,000 which, with interest, totaled $397,000.
